Doha, Qatar: Qatar News Agency on Wednesday held a workshop to enhance the knowledge of almost 25 staffers belonging to the News Department from a variety of editing sections.
The workshop held at QNA's Training Centre in collaboration with Google Qatar was part of the agency's constant efforts to advance the media performance.
It was laser-focused on leveraging Google-powered technologies in the domain of artificial intelligence, as well as taking stock of the state-of-the-art tools that would support editing and news work, particularly with respect to news reports and covering the evolving developments more effectively and professionally.
In addition, the workshop sought to enable editors and all participants in various specialties to have modern tools in support of editing and news work, in terms of aspects pertaining to the techniques of framing reports of developments the agency covers.
The move falls under QNA's policies aimed at supporting continuous professional development and strengthening media capabilities, particularly in the use of AI-powered technologies and emerging tools in news production and content creation to keep up with the rapid mutations in both media and content industry.
By and large, the workshop is part of a series of steps QNA takes to regulate news work in all stages and levels and is consistent with a plan the agency has been pursuing since its inception on May 25, 1975.
Throughout five decades, the technological evolution in the agency hasn't been merely the upgradation of either devices or publishing tools, but an overall strategic transition to build the foundations of the professional and official news work.
This is in addition to helping chronicle the path of comprehensive progress the State of Qatar has witnessed through reporting, photography and video.
As such, QNA pivots toward broadening its scope of influence by capitalizing on the technological edge and an advanced digital system so as to strengthen its presence via multiple platforms and languages and enlarge the scope of reaching broader audiences both on the regional and global stages.
