Evian, France: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has held talks with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France, focusing on regional security, bilateral relations and ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
According to the Egyptian presidency, Sisi congratulated Trump on his role in reaching an agreement with Iran, saying it should pave the way towards ending conflict and reducing escalation in the region.
The Egyptian president stressed the importance of renewed international efforts to resolve long-standing regional disputes, particularly the Palestinian issue, which he described as central to achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
Sisi also raised Egypt's concerns over the Nile River, describing it as a matter of national security. He said he appreciated Trump's attention to the issue, which remains a sensitive point in Egypt's relations with upstream countries.
