Vice President Jejomar C. Binay on Wednesday said that though he is “running scared,” he said still confident of winning the presidency in 2016.
Binay issued the statement noting how big the administration’s “war chest” for the 2016 elections compared to that of the opposition.
He was referring to United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) interim president, Navotas Rep. Tobias Tiangco’s claim that the Aquino administration has diverted P581 billion from the 2015 budget savings to the Liberal Party’s (LP) campaign kitty.
The UNA standard bearer even likened his fight against the administration party to that of “David and Goliath.”
“Sabihin na lang natin na ako, ang patakaran ko, magmula nang ako ay sumali sa pagkakandidato, sa bawat eleksyon, dapat running scared. There will be no over-confidence (Let’s just say that my policy ever since when I run in an election is I should be running scared. There will be no over-confidence),” he said in an interview at the Cogeo Public Market in Antipolo City on Wednesday.
“Running scared pero at the end of the day panalo (Running scared but at the end of the day, I will emerge as the winner),” he added.
Binay admitted that his confidence was also affected by the “initial reaction” of the public on the “vilification campaign” against him.
