Students and teachers from different schools of Qatar who won regional and international awards in different competitions at the regional level were honoured by Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahid Al Hammadi, yesterday.
At a ceremony attended by parents, teachers, students and officials, some 22 students and teachers achieved prestigious results and brought laurels to the country in regional forums during this academic year 2016/2017.
Honoured students and teachers included winners of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance, the 6th Gulf Mathematics Olympiads, the 2nd Gulf Physics Olympiads, Arabic Language Competition and winners of the 9th edition of the Braille Reading Competition.
This is in addition to winners of Sheikha Fadia Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah's competition - Kuwait Innovation Initiative's (Ibtikar Al Kuwait) - at the level of secondary schools across the GCC and World Youth Forum held on the sidelines of the UN Conference on Narcotic Drugs, Vienna.
The Minister praised school leaderships, teachers and families who prepared the students to achieve such outstanding results. "We are so proud of you because you have presented honourable image of Qatar in regional and International forums,” the Minister said addressing the winners. The achievements were results of hard work exerted by schools and families.
Honoured teachers and students said the function will be an incentive and encouragement for further success and outstanding outcomes.
