What an exaggeration?

Malacañang yesterday refuted Beijing’s claim that the Philippines and the United States  were “exaggerating” the threat posed by China on the disputed territories in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea).

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Philippines has been very objective and accurate in presenting the facts on the territorial dispute.

“When it comes to exaggerating, certainly, the Philippines makes it a point to be very objective and to be very accurate when it comes to the facts that we present, that our positions are based on,” Valte said.

“It is not to our interest to exaggerate any incident or to make any incident bigger than it actually is because as far as we were concerned, we only proceed upon the facts,” she said.

Valte added that China or any other outsiders’ perception of the Philippine government’s statements or actions on the issue is something beyond its control.
