DOHA: A criminal court that late last month sentenced an Asian man to death by firing squad for killing a male colleague for breaking his heart, has suspended its sentence and said it wouldn’t be executed until the victim’s minor brother attains majority and takes a decision on whether he wants the convict dead or would accept blood money.
The convict had fallen in love with the victim and had designs on him, but his love was unrequited, Al Sharq had reported. The daily yesterday reported that the court had suspended its ruling. Earlier, too, the court had ruled that the death sentence could be waived if the family of the victim agreed to accept blood money.
The convict and the victim worked in a construction company, and while the former was in a senior position the victim was a labourer.
The criminal court, according to Al Sharq, has said its verdict will not be executed until the victim’s younger brother attained majority.
