Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed deep concern over the worsening conditions of more than 9,500 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, including women and children, in addition to detainees from Gaza whose numbers remain unknown.

In a statement, the OIC warned of serious and systematic violations against prisoners, including deprivation of basic rights such as medical care, education, and communication, along with torture, abuse, psychological pressure, and isolation, describing these acts as potential war crimes under international law.

It stressed that such practices violate international humanitarian law, human rights principles, and the Geneva Conventions, calling for greater efforts to hold Israel accountable.

The organization held Israel fully responsible for the safety of all detainees, especially vulnerable groups, and urged the international community to ensure protection of their rights.
