Doha: The two-day international sport security and integrity conference of the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) will begin its first session tomorrow at Katara Cultural Village.
The two-day conference, which ends on March 19, to be held under the theme, ‘Advancing the security and integrity of sport to safeguard the future’, will bring together 400 international experts and stakeholders to share knowledge and best practice in sport, safety, security and integrity.
Meanwhile a number of individuals associated with the FIFA World Cup 2014 and the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee will be attending the conference, the ICSS said yesterday.
Colonel Nelson Garcia of the Military Police of the Federal District Police Brazil and International Vice President, International Association of Chiefs of Police Jorge Barbosa Pontes, Security International Relations Manager, Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee Hilario Medeiros, Security General Manager, Local Organising Committee, 2014 FIFA World Cup BrazilTM, will be some of the galazy of speakers from Brazil who will attend the conference.
Colonel Garcia, Pontes and Mederios will take part in a special panel discussion on ‘Brazil and Russia in the Spotlight’.
With a focus on security, this session will examine how Brazil and Russia are preparing to host major sporting events in the next five years. The members of the panel will also update on the progress of Brazilian preparations.
Both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted by Brazil, while Russia will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup
