NHRC Chairperson highlights Arab Network’s leading role in developing member institutions

Manama: Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) HE Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah affirmed the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions' (ANNHRI) leading role in enhancing the performance of its member institutions, in addition to its active contribution to supporting the establishment of national institutions based on full commitment to the Paris Principles.

This came during her participation in the 25th ANNHRI's General Assembly in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In press statements, Al Attiyah stated that the Arab Network's statutes establish the principle of equality among all member national institutions, stipulating that the Network's presidency rotates annually among member institutions according to the regions represented by each national institution. She expressed her pride in the State of Qatar hosting of the permanent headquarters of the Arab Network's General Secretariat.

In a related context, HE the NHRC Chairperson held two meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly, where she met with Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the National Center for Human Rights in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan HE Samar Haj Hassan and with Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain and current Chairperson of the Arab Network Engineer HE Ali Ahmed Al Derazi.

Aspects of cooperation and ways to organize joint activities and events aimed at building and raising the capabilities of members of national human rights institutions and enhancing their professional competencies were discussed during the two meetings in order to enable them to perform their tasks more effectively and develop their skills in various fields.
