Indonesian Ambassador, Air Marshal (Ret) Muhammad Basri Sidehabi, has appreciated the role of Indonesian Muttawa in Qatar (IMQ) in promoting good relations between Indonesia and Qatar, particularly in socio-cultural activities through Islamic teachings, at a gathering held at the Ambassador's Residence recently.
IMQ supports the role of the embassy to enhance relationship between Indonesia and Qatar, particularly in Islamic cultural activities.
Ambassador Basri hoped that IMQ becomes an example of the personality of the Indonesian people in Qatar. "IMQ members should abide by the rules and regulations of the country and keep unity and integrity among Indonesians in Qatar," said the former member of Indonesian Parliament.
IMQ has members from all parts of Qatar including Doha, Dukhan, Al Khor, Mesaieed and Al Wakra. "We have been actively promoting relations between Indonesia and Qatar through Islamic cultural activities," said Yahya Nawawi, the IMQ Chairman. "We are very grateful because this event is the first time we are invited by our Ambassador to his residence," said Yahya who came to Qatar in 2001. The envoy promised to hold the gathering regularly to strengthen unity in the Indonesian Diaspora in Qatar.
According to Minister Counselor of the Indonesian Embassy, Boy Dharmawan, the event was used by the Ambassador to present an update on Indonesia's socio-political situation including the role of the embassy in serving and protecting Indonesian citizens abroad.
