The plan to construct a new airport for Islamabad was conceived in late 1980s to deal with the problem of increased passenger load.

Islamabad: The newly built Islamabad International Airport will be fully operational by the end of this year, Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday.

Shujaat Azeem, special assistant to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on aviation affairs, said it will have 15 aero bridges instead of the nine planned earlier.
