Doha, Qatar: The Diabetes Qatar (DQ) organised its annual activities to mark World Diabetes Day, culminating in the 19th march at Aspire Park under this year’s theme, “Diabetes in the Workplace,” with platinum sponsorship from Al Rayan Bank and wide participation from government institutions and members of the community of all ages.
The event is part of national efforts to raise awareness about diabetes, highlight the importance of early detection, and promote prevention, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which prioritises human health.
Executive Director of the Qatar Diabetes Association, Dr. Abdullah Al-Hamaq said: “Every year, we celebrate World Diabetes Day with our march, which has become a national event eagerly anticipated by all. It aims to raise awareness, encourage healthy lifestyles, and support people living with diabetes in Qatar. This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of providing a healthy work environment to help prevent and better manage the disease.”

He added that the International Diabetes Federation estimates that more than 589 million people worldwide live with diabetes, seven out of ten of whom are of working age, making workplace awareness crucial for maintaining public health and productivity.
Speaking on the occasion Group Chief Executive Officer of Masraf Al Rayan, Fahad Al Khalifa said: “Sponsoring World Diabetes Day with the Qatar Diabetes Association is a natural extension of our CSR promise — to turn responsibility into measurable impact. We are proud of this partnership, which reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting health awareness and prevention.”
The march kicked off in the late afternoon in a festive and energetic atmosphere, with broad participation from families, school students, and representatives of various institutions. Participants wore distinctive blue T-shirts and walked along Aspire walkway carrying the diabetes awareness banner.
