Real estate transactions fall to record low

DOHA: Real estate transactions fell to a record low to QR326.75m in the week from September 6 to 10, with a market observer attributing the development to subdued pre-Eid Al Adha market sentiment. “People may be waiting to conclude bigger real estate deals after Eid Al Adha,” said Ahmed Al Orouqi, general manager of real estate company, Roots.
In remarks to this newspaper, Al Orouqi said real estate transactions average around QR500m a week so the figure for September 6 to 10 was definitely low. But things are expected to improve once Eid Al Adha is over, he said. Meanwhile, there were a total of 74 deals concluded in the above-said week, the maximum for small plots of land for housing in Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Dhkhira, and Umm Salal, among other places.
The highest deal was for a house worth QR18m in The Pearl-Qatar, while the smallest transaction was for QR2m for a 224 sq m plot in Umm Ghuwailina in downtown Doha. The Peninsula
