CEO of Hassad Food Company, Mohamed Badr Al Sada, said that Qatar will achieve its food security goals in the next few years.
He was speaking at a forum held by Kahramaa on innovation and said that Hassad plays a role in providing the country’s basic needs from the beginning of the siege. He said the company held an internal meeting and placed an appropriate plan to provide for the country’s food needs.
Al Sada said that the first plane carrying food needs was available after 24 hours from the siege. Five days later, all the local market’s food need were ready. He stressed that all state institutions are committed to the country’s food security goals.
In Qatar, the company produces 50 percent of all national food produce. However, this only equates to 7 percent of the country’s needs.
He noted that Hassad placed a number of plans to increase production in all sectors over the short term. He stressed that the private sector is a main partner in achieving food security.
