Islamabad: The Pakistani Foreign Ministry affirmed that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Washington and Tehran remained a framework for promoting peace.

At a press briefing, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that mediation efforts are currently facing significant challenges due to escalating tensions, but the peace process is not dead, only temporarily stalled. He expressed hope that dialogue would prevail over escalation.

He asserted that a return to the peace process would be possible when the conflicting parties realize that the cycle of escalation has run its course. He noted that the Islamabad MoU, along with the roadmap outlined in the joint statement issued by Pakistan and Qatar on June 22, provides a basis for resuming peace efforts.

Andrabi expressed his country's concern regarding the escalating tensions in the region, emphasizing that Pakistan is continuing its diplomatic efforts at the highest levels to support dialogue, de-escalation, and the achievement of political solutions.
