Turkish military helicopter lands in Greece, 8 request asylum

Alexandroupoli, Greece: A Turkish military helicopter has landed in Greece carrying eight men seeking asylum, the Greek police said Saturday.

The Black Hawk helicopter landed after sending a distress signal to authorities at the airport in Alexandroupolis in the country's north. Seven of those on board were in military uniform and all are believed to have been involved in the coup bid, ERT TV said.

Greece has arrested eight men aboard a Turkish military helicopter which landed in the northern city of Alexandroupolis at midday on Saturday, the country's police ministry said.

Turkish foreign minister on twitter: have asked greece to return eight soldiers who fled there.
