DOHA: HEC Paris has drawn attention to the importance of academic research since the launch of its research office in Qatar a year ago.
The office has delivered five new case studies after six already published. The achievement is mainly due to productive collaboration between the office, local business community and alumni from HEC Paris Executive MBA programme.
Companies that contributed to case studies included Coastal Group, Empower World, QDVC, Msheireb, Mosafer/Abu Issa, Al Shaqab, Securitas and Salam International.
Since the launch of the office, innovative and original articles have been published in renowned academic journals and presented at international conferences by Prof. Laoucine Kerbache, Dean and CEO, HEC Paris in Qatar, and Prof. Wolfgang Amann, Academic Coordinator, Executive MBA, Doha Modular.
Two books, Innovations in Executive Education and Anti-Corruption: Implementing Curriculum Change in Management, were completed with Prof. Amann as co-author.
Four case loab workshops were run by HEC Paris, where new business cases were presented, giving participants opportunity to discuss challenges from Qatar’s rapidly developing economy.
To build new knowledge to contribute to Qatar’s economy, the workshops will continue in the next academic year to serve as a platform for sharing original and innovative works. Once finalised, case studies published internationally will help raise Qatar’s profile and awareness of local business issues.
“Academic research by business schools such as HEC Paris in Qatar provides essential input in the pursuit of the desired growth and development of businesses locally and regionally,” Prof. Kerbache said.
The office is recognised and supported by Qatar Foundation. It focuses on development of pedagogical content (business cases) and innovative academic research, in collaboration with academic and business communities in Qatar, and organising workshops and conferences. The Peninsula
