Technical glitch delays US visa, passport processing

DOHA: The US embassy said yesterday that its consular section has been facing technical problems in processing visa applications.
“Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs is currently experiencing technical problems with our overseas passport and visa systems. This issue is not specific to any particular country, citizenship document, or visa category. We apologise for the inconvenience and Consular Affairs is working urgently to correct the problem and restore full operability,” the embassy said in a statement.
DS-160 visa applications made after June 8, this year are also affected by this delay. The consular section has been unable to print any visas since June 9, it added. Those who want to collect their passport without visa may visit the embassy any working day between 2:30pm – 3:30pm.
