Doha: Qatar University (QU) has achieved another significant international accolade — member of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI).  The organisation was recognised by the UN Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information Cristina Gallach for its commitment to ten principles — commitment to the UN Charter; human rights; educational opportunity for all; higher education opportunity for every interested individual; capacity building in higher education systems; global citizenship; peace and conflict resolution; addressing poverty; sustainability; and the “unlearning” of intolerance. The organisation joins over 1,000 colleges and universities in some 120 countries who are working with the UN to promote global priorities.
“This is another milestone for Qatar University.  Our commitment to social responsibility and advancement cannot be overstated and to be admitted to this membership is a proud accomplishment,” QU President Prof Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad said.
