Doha: The Ministry of Social Development and Family, in cooperation with Generation Amazing of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), organised the Family Day, at the community headquarters of Generation Amazing, near Lusail World Cup Stadium.
The idea of the event, which came within the Ministry’s celebration of Family Day in Qatar, which falls on April 15 of each year, is to cooperate with Generation Amazing, to organise activities and events within football for development initiative.
The event attracted children aged 8-12 and their families to benefit from a range of sporting events that enhance their social skills. The event witnessed the participation of more than 200 children, including school students and members of the Lusail Sports Club, and valuable dialogue sessions were held on sports and football and its role in enhancing construction and positive social impact.
Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad said that the Ministry’s celebration of this day stems from the vision of the government programme for social development, as the family is an essential part in the building and growth of any society, because of its educational role for its members, those who ultimately make up the society of the state, so the health of this basic building means the health of the overall structure of the state and its society.

Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad added that through this event, the Ministry aims to instil and popularise the concept of family group sports and its importance in strengthening and consolidating relations between family members, and on the other hand, to raise community awareness of the importance of sports activities and events for the overall health of the community in terms of physical health and emotional ties within the family.
The Minister emphasised that all of these goals contribute to the strength and durability of the social fabric of the state and nourishing its social contract with the values of the true religion and the traditions of parents and grandparents, in addition to the roles played by the mother, sisters and brothers within the scope of the same family, which we consider central in tightening the components of society around the centrality of the cohesive family.
She expressed her deep appreciation to the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) for its active contribution to this sporting, entertaining, and educational event, and for attracting children and their families.
SC Secretary General Hassan Al Thawadi said that the family plays a very vital and important role in the social development of individuals, and this role is an integral part of Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as being a fundamental pillar of all activities of Generation Amazing programmes.
He added that at Generation Amazing, we are pleased to cooperate with the Ministry of Social Development and Family to celebrate this day, and to explore the best ways in which we can harness the power of sport in general, and football in particular, to enhance social development opportunities for youth activities that combine learning and entertainment.
