Qatar Charity has organised, through The Executive Directory for Local Development, a mass festival at Aspire Zone garden in celebration for Arab Orphan Day.
The organisation aims through this festival to raise awareness about the hardship of orphans around the world, and to encourage donations for the purpose of sponsoring and supporting orphans.
Different social, sports, media and Inshad — religious singing bands — figures have participated in this occasion to draw attention to orphans hardships around the world. Locally sponsored orphans, “Future Leaders”, also participated in events. Organisers have devoted one of the events in the programme for donations.
Events included showing a short film about orphans, cultural and religious quiz games, and a soccer match between the Qatari association for players and the “Future Team” that affiliated with Qatar Charity.
The festival included a group of entertaining, sports, cultural and religious activities which guardians and their children enjoyed. To educate children about values of respecting adults, a comedy play was enacted through puppets. During a talent show, Qatari girl Shamsa Jroud showed her talent with a song titled “You don’t need money to be more beautiful.” The Art Innovation band did several objective and valued nasheeds.
Nasser Meghesab, the director of social programmes at the Executive Directory for Local Development, has pointed out that orphans care is a priority for Qatar Charity. This is done through adopting several programmes and methods of support as he say. He also noted that many orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity achieved academic, scientific and personal success at all levels.
He also pointed that Qatar Charity is a bridge between donors and beneficiary.
Meghesab has expressed his gratitude to athletes, journalists and the staff of Qatar Charity for Social communication who participated in the event.
The event also hosted religious scholar and sheihks. Sheikh Abdullah Ashwal, a judicial researcher at Qatar Charity, has pointed out that when people mention orphans who innovated in the area of decision-making, Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is the ideal example. Sheikh Abdullah pointed that the Prophet has suffered a lot for being an orphan and was in grief and pain. However, as Sheikh Abdullah pointed, Allah’s divine intervention manifested in looking after him, and later became a part in the speech of the entire world and a pride for both believers and nonbelievers.
The Islamic preacher, and religious and family consultant at Qatar Charity, Sheikh Ayesh Gahtany, has pointed that mothers are half of the society and many great and renowned people’s success was because of their mothers such as Shafe’e, Ahmed bin Hanbal, Zaid bin Thabet, Sufian Thory, Mohammed Fateh who liberated Constantinople, and finally Abdulrahman Aldakhel.
Sheikh Abdullah Sadda, the religious preacher, has pointed that previous nations were only interested in the strongest. He said that nations before Islam did not give orphans their rights for being weak; however, after that Islam took care of orphans, as Prophet Muhammed said; “The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together to illustrate.” Authentic Hadith.
The festival was concluded with games for orphan children and with a friendly match between “the Future team”, affiliated with Qatar Charity, and The Qatari Association for players team with participation of captain Abdulrahman Kwari, the deputy president of Qatari Players Association, Captain Ibrahim Ghanem, Captain Meshal Mubarak, Captain Ali Jasmy, and Captain Muhsian Yazeedy. At the end, the organisers rewarded orphans gifts and rewards.
