Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman P/Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo on Thursday said they have no official record of the reported resignation of P/Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina as PNP officer-in-charge (OIC).

“Wala pong ganyan sa official records ng PNP, wala kaming ganyang tala ng resignation ni Espina as OIC ng PNP,” Cerbo said in a news briefing.

He made the statement following reports that Espina tendered his resignation as PNP OIC in March. Espina allegedly handed his letter to President Benigno S. Aquino.

Cerbo emphasized that Espina is still the PNP OIC.

Siya pa rin tumatayong OIC ng PNP, and to note that effective April 14 na-promote pa siya na full-time PNP Deputy Chief for Administration. Hindi ko malaman paano mabibigyan ng logic itong alleged resignation,” he stated.

Cerbo, likewise, said that if ever there are changes in the PNP leadership, then they will be the first to know.
