Doha, Qatar: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani honoured the employees of Dar Al Iftaa affiliated with the Association of Scholars in the Republic of South Africa.
The honouring ceremony was held after the intensive course they received in learning the Arabic language.
The course lasted for a month from January 11 to February 12, 2025, with the participation of 15 employees.
It was organised and supervised by the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre affiliated with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of South Africa to Qatar H E Ghulam Hoosein Asmal, several senior officials from the Ministry, heads of departments, professors and supervisors of the course.
In his speech during the ceremony, Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al Akhn Al Marri, Head of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre, stressed that this course comes within the efforts of Qatar to enhance cooperation with advocacy and legal institutions and strengthen cultural and civilisational relations and ties between Islamic peoples, as part of its purposeful religious and educational vision and message.
He noted that the course contributes to enhancing the ability of employees at Dar Al Iftaa to deal with Islamic heritage and knowledge by strengthening their Arabic language, which makes it easier for them to access and acquire knowledge and Islamic sciences from their correct sources.
Dr. Al Marri explained that the course included 115 training hours in Arabic language over a full month, in addition to religious lectures and cultural visits, to provide an integrated experience for Dar Al Iftaa employees, helping them improve their language skills and deepen their understanding of Islamic culture.
Ambassador of South Africa to Qatar H E Ghulam Hoosein Asmal praised the efforts of Qatar in supporting students and employees of the Dar Al Iftaa of the Association of Scholars of South Africa, during their graduation ceremony in Doha.
The ambassador stressed that this event reflects the deep fraternal ties between the two countries, noting that the programme did not only provide participants with religious knowledge, but also reinforced the values of brotherhood and tolerance.
Zakaria Suleiman Bandura, the course coordinator from the Association of Scholars in South Africa, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, for its efforts in sponsoring the Arabic language and enhancing communication with Muslim communities around the world.
