Doha: With just a week left for the 2018 Handball World Schools Championships to kick off in Doha preparation to host the event have gathered pace, informed a member of the organising Committee.
Abeer Al Buainain, member of the Ceremonies and Awards committee, said that the organisers have lined up a glittering opening ceremony and most of the members of the committee have attended the dress rehearsals of the opening ceremony and have been impressed by what they saw.
“The work is going well for the opening ceremony of the championship, which combines the identity and heritage of, and we are happy with what we saw in the rehearsal, and we achieve the required success,” Al Buainain said.
More than 20 countries will be participating in the championship which will be held in both boys and girls section and is organized by Qatar School Sports Association (QSSA), in technical collaboration with Qatar Handball Federation.
Al Buainain said that everyone is working round the clock to make the event a great success.
The event will kick off officially on February 21 and will be held at three venues namely: Aspire Academy of Sports Excellence, Qatar Women’s Sports Committee and Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah in Al Sadd.
The Organizing Committee have been holding periodic meetings to facilitate its work and remove any technical and organizational glitches which may affect the tournament.
A dedicated website has uploaded all the details of the event on the website related to each team, training dates and competitions.
Meanwhile the Organizing Committee of the Championship have approached many schools through the Ministry of Education and Higher Education so that students can attend the competitions.
The Committee has also contacted students of the Shafallah Center and people with special needs, to make the event a success.
