DOHA: The Qatar Cricket Association (QCA), functioning under the Patronage of the Qatar Olympic Committee, will contribute its bit to nation-wide grand celebration by hosting the Qatar National Day Cricket Tournament on December 18.
Showcasing the theme of this year’s celebrations, honesty and loyalty to Qatar, the QCA has invited five teams from different communities for the one-day event, to be held at the West Bay Cricket Complex.
Like the previous years, the QCA is both proud and delighted to join the upcoming celebrations once again and will organize the Qatar National Day Cricket Tournament on December 18.
“We hope that the new edition, with five teams from various communities, will not only bring a huge success but also underline our commitment to the nation and sport,”  MA Shahid, President added. Manzoor Ahmad, the QCA General Secretary, said in the release that the tournament set new traditions in the past and is aimed at getting various communities united and closer through the sport.
“The five contesting teams involve the Qatari community, expatriates from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. We’ve witnessed some highly competitive matches and we expect the level would be even higher this year.”
“The matches would be played on the league cum knock-out basis. First, all the teams would play the single round-robin and then, the two teams with the highest points would play the final,” said Manzoor.
