Baghdad: At least six Islamic State (IS) terrorists were killed and five others injured in the Tharthar area north-west of Baghdad on Sunday, Iraqi security sources said.

Iraqi army Captain Ali Slam told reporters that a group of gunmen from the IS gang attacked the Iraqi forces at dawn on Sunday.

During the clashes, Iraqi air force bombed a gathering of the terrorists destroying vehicles and weapons, the Captain added.

"This attack was an attempt of IS to break its siege in Ramadi and Samarra areas, and try to acquire weapons due to lack in supplies," he added.
