DOHA: Ooredoo and Qatar Charity (QC) will this weekend send donated food to the needy in international trouble-spots, as part of initiatives marking World Food Day.
Both will collect food at charity boxes at malls, including Villaggio, City Center, Lagoona, Landmark and Hayat Plaza.
World Food Day tomorrow is a day of action against hunger, which sees people around the world come together to declare commitment to eradicate hunger in their lifetime. With QC, Ooredoo will ship food to people in these areas, where local organisations will distribute it.
Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Public and Community Relations, Ooredoo, said, “Ooredoo is working with QC to try to make a small contribution to tackling the critical issue of hunger and undernourishment. We hope everyone can find time tomorrow to donate food at special charity boxes and we thank QC for their efforts to help people at home and overseas.” Charity boxes will be available all weekend and Ooredoo has urged people to donate non-perishable food that is easy to ship, such as canned and packet food.
