NEW YORK: The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.23 percent to 99.616 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.1543 U.S. dollars from 1.1557 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3481 dollars from 1.3511
U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 155.09 Japanese yen, higher than 154.05 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.8185 Swiss francs from 0.8163
Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3917 Canadian dollars from 1.3902 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 9.7773 Swedish kronor from 9.7412 Swedish kronor.
