Doha, Qatar: The Embassy of Vietnam in Qatar yesterday hosted a reception to celebrate 80th anniversary of the National Day of Vietnam.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Social Development and Family H E Buthaina Bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi; and Director of Protocol Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H E Ambassador Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro.
Addressing the event, Ambassador of Vietnam to Qatar H E Nguyen Huy Hiep said: “On this special occasion, we come together not only to commemorate a historic date but also to reflect upon the journey of a proud nation, the achievements of its people, and the enduring friendships that Vietnam has nurtured around the world."
He said that the relationship between Vietnam and Qatar has been growing positively, particularly following the official visit to Qatar of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. “Bilateral trade reached $860m in 2024, and exchanges between ministries, sectors, and businesses have been increasingly active.”
He added, "I am confident that the Vietnam-Qatar partnership will continue to deepen, moving towards a comprehensive, substantive, and mutually beneficial relationship in the years to come.”
The Ambassador said as a friend and partner of Qatar, Vietnam is pleased to witness and celebrate the impressive achievements of the Qatari people under the wise leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Regarding the recent regional situation, he said: “We have seen unpredictable developments, especially the Israeli attack on a residential compound in a densely populated area in Doha, with schools and diplomatic missions. Vietnam condemns the use of force, which violates international law, the United Nations Charter, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries.”
