DOHA: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) said it would intensify surveillance on radioactive materials and the devices utilized in all peaceful fields of nuclear energy in medicine, agriculture, research and others, in addition to promoting the field of nuclear energy.
The Ministry, represented by the Radiation and Chemical Protection Department, conducted a training program for a broad range of staff members, with the aim to strengthen surveillance on the radiological activities in Qatar, including the issuance of the essential clearances after carrying out inspection, vetting and investigation in accordance with Law No. 31 of 2002 on radiation protection.
In addition, the ministry has conducted multiple workshops, training sessions and seminars with respect to radioactive and nuclear safety that are related to radiological applications and the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, which are intended to enhance surveillance of radiological applications in the State of Qatar.
