BERLIN, Germany: Bundesliga side Werder Bremen yesterday signed Argentinian striker Franco Di Santo on a three-year deal from English Premier league side Wigan on a free transfer.
The 24-year-old has been signed to team up with Bremen’s ex-Bayern Munich striker Nils Petersen after 57 appearances and 13 goals over three seasons at Wigan, where his contract expired at the end of last season.
Werder needed a late strike from Austria midfielder Zlatko Junuzovic to seal a 1-0 win over Bundesliga new-side Eintracht Braunschweig o as the German league got underway last weekend.
“We have been looking for a robust striker and we are sure that we have found a good solution in Franco,” said Werder’s director of sport Thomas Eichin. AFP
