Doha, Qatar: Qatar University (QU), through its esteemed Qatar University Press, is participating in the highly anticipated 32nd edition of the Doha International Book Fair 2023, themed “With Reading We Rise.”
The event will run until June 21, 2023, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) and has become a platform of paramount significance for the global literary community, drawing over 500 publishers from 37 countries. The event serves as a prominent platform for promoting literature, knowledge, and cultural exchange.
QU’s prestigious participation highlights the university’s profound belief in the power of literature and its vital role in fostering social awareness and nurturing the intellectual capabilities of the younger generation. QU Press is not merely a platform for books but a beacon that enlightens minds and instills a sense of cultural responsibility within society. QU Press presence at this event underscores its strategic vision for education and research, aligning with the university’s mission to serve the local community and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.
Director of QU Press, Professor Fatima Al Suwaidi, expressed her enthusiasm about the fair, stating, “The publishing house aims to support QU’s vision and achieve its mission of excellence in research and education by meeting the approved scientific publishing standards and attracting distinguished authors in all fields to meet the needs of the university and the community.” She further emphasised that “the publishing house serves not only as a platform for books but also as a means to instil social awareness and enhance the competency of the younger generation.”

It’s worth mentioning that Doha International Book Fair, established in 1972, is a renowned and prestigious international book fair in the region. Initially held biennially, it transitioned to an annual event in 2002. With over 340 publishing houses from 34 countries participating on a 29,000 square meter space, the fair has attracted global recognition.
