DOHA: Qatar Career Fair (QCF), has concluded its youth empowerment programme, ‘QCF Ambassadors’.
A total of 236 high school students from over 18 Independent schools, academic supervisors and career guidance counsellors took part.
The programme, launched last March at Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Student Centre, aimed to shape and develop students’ skills and capabilities. It also promoted the importance of career advancement, professional planning and specialisation choices through training sessions, workshops and activities.
Drawing inspiration from QCF’s motto, ‘Your Future In Your Hands’, the programme aimed to foster a supportive and stimulating environment to encourage Qatari youth to contribute to community growth and advancement.
It supports QF’s objective to unlock human potential and equip Qatar’s youth with educational capacities and personal development and leadership skills to enable the state to achieve a knowledge-based economy as per Qatar National Vision 2030.
Abdulla Al Mansoori, Director,  QCF, said, “The QCF Ambassadors programme is one of many year-round initiatives, activities and platforms QFC is spearheading, lending a hand to Qatari youth and guiding them into smart career choices that will reflect positively on their academic and professional paths.”
Students attended workshops over two months, focusing on life skills, leadership, project management, career development, and entrepreneurship, among others.
Training participants on how to prepare resumes, conduct job interviews, deliver presentations and build confidence and critical thinking capabilities, the programme also provided them with an understanding of local labour market developments and needs and exposure to work environments and specialisations in Qatar.
The youth empowerment programme offered access to internship, training and development opportunities at leading entities and institutions, matched with each participant’s career ambitions.
Through such programmes, QCF is promoting a culture of proactivity, initiative, leadership, creativity, and innovation among Qatari students, said Al Mansoori.
He said every participant will become an ambassador for QCF, spreading and promoting the programme’s messages and outcomes in their school communities, ensuring wide-reaching awareness around career development for Qatari students.
QCF will  now target college students and other academic levels.
