DOHA: Nine street vendors in Souq Haraj and Najma area were arrested during an inspection campaign conducted by the authorities recently.
The crackdown was carried out by the General Control Department at Doha Municipality, in cooperation with the Research and Follow-up Department at the Ministry of Interior and the Public Hygiene Project at the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning.
Legal action has been initiated against the vendors, said a press statement yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Al Karaana municipality office, which falls under the jurisdiction of Al Rayyan Municipality, has launched a campaign against vehicles that do not use tightly-sealed protective covers on their goods. This has led to goods falling off vehicles on Salwa road and the road branching from it within the jurisdiction of the municipal office.
