Hong Kong - Hong Kong shares rose 0.63 percent at the start of the session Friday following a rally on Wall Street as expectations for an early US rate hike diminish.
The Hang Seng Index added 173.03 points, to 27,459.58.
But in mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.52 percent, or 22.82 points, to 4,355.49.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 0.81 percent, or 19.94 points, to 2,434.26.
