Berlin, Germany: Two people have been killed in a light aircraft crash on wednesday, April 15, 2026, in a forest in western Germany, local authorities reported.

Mayor of Hurtgenwald in North Rhine-Westphalia Stephan Cranen said that the plane crashed near Hurtgenwald after taking off from an airport near Aachen city.

Hikers found the wreckage of the plane inside an area in the forest, he added.

Police said the cause of the accident was still unclear, and investigations were ongoing.
