Doha, Qatar: The 47th World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM Qatar 2025) will start Saturday and run through November 23 at Umm Al-Shokhot Airfield.
320 skydivers representing 30 countries; namely Algeria, Germany, Austria, Bahrain, the United States, Belgium, Brazil, Russia, China, South Korea, Denmark, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, France, Egypt, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, Morocco, Oman, the Netherlands, Poland, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Tunisia, Turkey, and host country Qatar along with Slovakia, which will be present to receive the flag for the next edition.
They will compete in three events for both men and women: the four-way formation, the style, and the landing.
Vice Chairman of the Qatar Air Sports Committee, Lt. Colonel Abdullah Saeed Al Mansouri, welcomed the participants to the championship, which he described as a special challenge for Qatari air sports. He noted that all teams had arrived in Doha and had begun their training and preparations immediately following the official opening ceremony.
In a statement today, he commended the organizing committee and its subcommittees for their commendable efforts and harmonious coordination in preparing to receive all participating delegations.
For its part, the Supreme Organizing Committee for the Championship, chaired by HE Chairman of the Qatar Air Sports Committee and Commander of the Joint Special Forces, Brigadier General Mohammed bin Zayed Al Otaibi, announced the completion of all arrangements and preparations for the opening ceremony and the official start of the competitions. The committee has mobilized its personnel and expertise to ensure the success of this major international event at a level befitting Qatar's reputation as a global sporting destination.
As part of the preparations, the technical meeting for the championship was held yesterday (Thursday) at Umm Al-Shokhot Airfield, chaired by the Qatar Air Sports Committee and the International Military Sports Council (CISM). The meeting addressed technical, organizational, and refereeing arrangements, the registration process for teams and skydivers, competition guidelines, doping control, and security and safety procedures.
The Supreme Organizing Committee and its working committees also conducted inspection tours to ensure the readiness of the championship venue. These tours included rehearsals and technical tests of the opening ceremony scenario, as well as arrangements for the opening of the Air Sports Museum, one of the championship's surprises.
The Qatari skydiving team continues its training in preparation for the competitions, particularly the target landing event, with high morale and ambition to win the title on home soil and in front of its fans.
