Baghdad: The Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities has announced that 185 Iraqi archaeological tablets smuggled to Britain will be repatriated after being found and seized by the British police and government.
Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al Badrani, said that the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities are continuing their efforts to recover the Iraqi artifacts and tablets that were smuggled in the past, stressing coordination with the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Iraqi Embassy in London to recover them.
He noted that the Ministry of Culture and Antiquities has recently recovered 6,000 artifacts from Britain and 13 boxes from the United States, in addition to retrieving hundreds of artifacts and tablets from European, Arab, and other countries.
