DOHA: Prices of kingfish are expected to go down in the local market as ban on catching kingfish is going to expire tomorrow.
The Ministry of Environment imposed a temporary ban on fishing Kanaad (a species of Kingfish) in Qatari waters for two months from August 15. The ban was implemented as part of the ministry’s commitment to preserve the country’s marine wealth and comply with the GCC Agricultural Committee’s unified decision to ban fishing Kana’ad. Kingfish contributes 13 percent of total fish stock in the country.
