DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation — Katara, in cooperation with Palladium Group, is hosting the sixth Strategic Leadership Forum on Monday.
It will feature prominent strategic leaders in the public and private sectors from Qatar and neighbouring Arab countries.
This year’s edition of the forum will host world renowned economic academic Robert S Kaplan.
As the co-founder of Palladium Group, Kaplan has been categorised by Harvard University among 25 most influential figures within the intellectual science of global economics.
Among his contributions is the highly revered provision of balance scorecards; one of the most highly used tools by corporations and firms worldwide which aligns business activities with any organisation’s strategic vision.
The scorecard has been lauded as one of the best methods of business management in the past 75 years, according to Harvard Business Review.
Kaplan’s publications have been translated into 22 languages with sales exceeding one million copies.
Katara General Manager Dr Khaled bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said holding the sixth edition of the forum is a sign of the event’s consistent success.
He said the forum has become the umbrella under which strategic leaders meet to exchange views on the best practices used within strategic planning.
He spoke highly of the strong relations between Katara and Palladium Group, which Katara will utilise in implementing its five-fold strategy. “The real challenge lies in implementing the national strategy in line with every industrial sector important to Qatar.
“Another obstacle present is the aligning of all operational units within institutions with sector-related strategies.
“A study by Palladium Group indicated that failure in 90 percent of unsuccessful strategies is attributed to misapplication as opposed to strategy.
“These figures stress the importance of the forum in adopting the essential nature of the practices needed to implement strategies.
“All individuals present at the forum this year will benefit from pioneers in this field, chiefly Professor Kaplan,” he said.
