DOHA: Ezdan Real Estate Company, one of Ezdan Holding Group subsidiaries, has completed installation of 120,000 water-saving devices in 7,000 of its residential units.
The project aims to reduce daily water consumption per capita by 40 to 60 percent as part of implementation of a comprehensive plan to make the Group’s properties water-saving entities.
The objective is in line with the national programme for conservation and energy efficiency ‘Tarsheed’, for which the Group last year signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
Ezdan Real Estate has made great progress in its plan, scheduled for completion by mid-2016, to make Ezdan compounds energy-efficient.
Implementation includes housing units, such as one-, two- and three- bedrooms apartments and villas. The water-saving units are spread over 11 residential villages. Ezdan is working on the completion of the next stages with the introduction of new and sophisticated methods to reduce electricity consumption.
Ali Al Obaidli (pictured), CEO,  Ezdan Holding Group, said progress in the programme comes as a result of the Group’s efforts towards supporting vital environmental and development initiatives that benefit our country.
He said the Group backs initiatives that would create an environmentally aware society, through construction of resource-efficient infrastructure that reduces pollution and keep Qatar clean and safe.
Ezdan is keen to cooperate with state agencies in promoting sustainable development, as it operates with a long-term vision to preserve resources sufficient for future generations of Qatar.
Al Obaidli said the MoU is within the framework of Ezdan’s efforts to contribute to community development and supporting the expansion vision of the state. Over 55 years of experience in the construction sector, the Group has been keen to pay more attention to the protection of the environment and natural resources, as it involves energy and resources factors. Therefore, implementing the resources rationalisation programme is an opportunity for the Group to be more consistent with its strategy based on supporting community initiatives to develop the state and society. The MoU was by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the  Group, and Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, President, Kahramaa, to strengthen cooperation in support of plans and initiatives of Tarsheed, and reduce daily per capita consumption of water and wastage of resources.
