Washington: US President Donald Trump said Iran wants to reach an agreement quickly and badly, adding that he would decide whether the United States would engage in negotiations with Tehran and stressing that Washington was open to the option.

In a post on Truth Social on Monday, Trump said that Iran "wants to make a deal, quickly and badly," adding, "I will determine whether or not the USA will choose to engage - The concept of which we are open to."

In another post, Trump said Russia and Ukraine had agreed to stop carrying out reciprocal strikes on energy facilities.

Trump had called on his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to stop targeting diesel infrastructure in Russia, saying the attacks were causing fuel shortages and harming the world.

He added that the global fuel shortage was not caused by the Middle East, but by what is happening between Russia and Ukraine.
