Doha, Qatar: In a tangible step that reflects the spirit of social solidarity in Qatar, the Zakat Affairs Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs disbursed financial assistance totalling QR19,614,218 during August 2025. The aid benefited more than 2,000 deserving families across the country.
Marwa Ahmed Al-Binali, Head of the Collection and Zakat Accounts Section, affirmed the department’s commitment to delivering Zakat funds from payers to eligible beneficiaries in Qatar in accordance with Shariah principles and approved regulations.
She stressed that this not only fulfils the obligation of Zakat payers but also provides reassurance and stability to families in need, helping strengthen community bonds. The assistance was provided under two main categories: Monthly Assistance: Covering essential needs such as food, housing, and living expenses, amounting to QR13,222,565.
Exceptional support based on urgent needs, include medical treatment, payment of tuition fees, and debt relief, totalling QR6,391,653. Al-Binali emphasised that all aid is disbursed only after thorough case assessments to ensure eligibility. She also noted that applications for assistance are open to residents in Qatar through the department’s website (www.zakat.gov.qa), with the required documentation necessary to expedite processing.
She encouraged individuals and companies to fulfil their Zakat obligations.
