Doha: The work of the training workshop on preparing periodic reports under the 2003 Unesco Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the State of Qatar, which was organised by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), has been concluded.
The three-day workshop discussed topics about Unesco and its conventions through training the staff of the ministry and relevant authorities on preparing the national periodic reports on the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, in addition to results-based monitoring and follow-up, effective data collection methodologies, information sources, and participatory approaches in preparing reports.
The 2003 Intangible Cultural Heritage Convention aims to safeguard the intangible cultural heritage and respect the intangible cultural heritage of the communities, groups, and individuals concerned, as well as raise awareness at the local, national, and international levels of the importance of the intangible cultural heritage and the mutual appreciation of this heritage, international cooperation, and international assistance.
