DOHA: A sing-along with Frozen’s Anna and Elsa and a unique performance by Arabs Got Talent semi-finalist Snoopy are some of the entertainment offerings at the upcoming five-day Eid Al Adha 2015 Festival organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).
Royal sisters Anna and Elsa along with Olaf will sing well-known tunes from the Disney hit along with the crowd. Circus performer Snoopy will show off his unique brand of balancing acts that have amazed tele-viewers of Arabs Got Talent’s latest season.
Catered to all ages, the Festival is set to offer a variety of daily family entertainment shows that will be held in malls, from the traditional Ardha dance to the amusing mini-stage show titled
Mr Dropsy and the Bell-Boy. Shows will rotate between Hyatt Plaza, City Center Doha, Ezdan Mall, Lagoona Mall, Al Khor Mall, and Dar Al Salam Mall between 4pm and 10pm.
In addition to roaming circus parades, balloon benders and flying carpets, malls will be putting on exclusive shows such as Aladdin (City Centre), Bob the Builder (Dar Al Salam), Dora the Explorer (Ezdan Mall), Cinderella (Lagoona), Play ‘Doh (Hyatt Plaza) and Kids Circus (Al Khor Mall).
Further, actors Nasser Mohammed and Najwa Al Kubaisi will return to lead an ensemble of young actors including child singing superstar Hala Al Turk, in a show about the world of wrestling. The play, written by Teyseer Abdullah, directed by Saad Burshed and sponsored by the QTA, will be staged at the Qatar National Theatre.
Eid Al-Adha celebrations will extend to all parts of the country at tourism hotspots including Souq Waqif, where live concerts will be held; Katara; Aspire Park; The Pearl-Qatar; Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve; and the Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Museum.
Through the Eid Al Adha Festival theme, “Capture Joy”, QTA will also be launching a campaign inviting visitors and residents to capture the joyful memories associated with Eid and share their experiences of Eid in Qatar through images and words on various online platforms.
QTA will continue working with its partners at Hamad International Airport to share the spirit of Eid with visitors arriving in Qatar through “Eidiya” gifts and information pamphlets providing them with a guide to the Eid Al-Adha festivities.
“The Eid Al Adha Festival sustains the momentum of the 2015 Qatar Summer Festival and Eid Al-Fitr Festival, which contributed to the rise in tourist numbers with a series of shows, a range of new attractions, special hotel rates, live ticketed shows and weekly raffle draws,” said Rashed Al Qurese, Chief Marketing and Promotions Officer at QTA.
“The Festival is part of Qatar’s strategy to grow and diversify its tourism offerings in partnership with the private sector.”
The annual Eid Al Adha Festival, which aims to increase the number of inbound tourists in the long-term by building sustainable events into Qatar’s calendar, is building on the success of past years through events organised in collaboration with public and private sector partners to reinforce Qatar’s position as a preferred family tourist destination within the GCC.
