Doha: Al Sadd Station on the Doha Metro has become a vibrant showcase of public art, featuring striking murals created in collaboration with Qatar Museums that blend culture, creativity and everyday travel.
Qatar Rail highlighted the artworks in a recent post, noting that the murals add distinctive touches of art and culture to the daily journeys of passengers. The colourful installations transform the station surroundings into an open-air gallery, inviting commuters to pause and appreciate the details during their transit.
The murals, part of broader public art initiatives supported by Qatar Museums, reflect a mix of local heritage and contemporary expression. One prominent piece draws on traditional Qatari and Arabian motifs, depicting a figure in traditional attire alongside a camel and falcon against bold geometric patterns. Another playful mural features stylised characters engaged in painting activities, while a third shows figures in thobes gathered around large bowls under a pouring vessel, evoking communal scenes with a modern twist.
These works form part of efforts to integrate art into urban spaces and public transport hubs across Doha. Al Sadd Station, located on the Gold Line and serving the busy Al Sadd district, opened in November 2019. Its central position makes the murals highly visible to residents and visitors alike.
