In the presence of Emir H H  Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the second joint meeting was held at Al Bahr Palace bringing together  Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Kuwait's Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Information, H E Sheikh Mohammed Al Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Sabah, and the Secretary of State of the United States, Rex Tillerson.
The meeting discussed the latest developments of the Gulf crisis and the efforts being exerted to solve it through dialogue and diplomatic channels.
"We appreciate the mediation efforts led by the Emir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, and the support provided by the US to reach a diplomatic solution to the current crisis," the Foreign Minister told Qatar News Agency after meeting  with Tillerson and Sheikh Mohammed Al Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Sabah.
"The State of Qatar reiterates its firm position that it is always open to constructive dialogue to resolve any disputes between states. This crisis can only be resolved through dialogue based on the principles of mutual respect and the sovereignty of states in accordance with the provisions of international law and the State of Qatar is ready to discuss all the demands presented by the four countries and their evidence based on these grounds," he added. The US State Department said yesterday that getting the parties in the dispute to take directly to one another would be an important next step in resolving the crisis. “Based on his meetings, the Secretary of State believes that getting the parties to talk directly to one another would be an important next step,” State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert told reporters. “We hope the parties will agree to do so and we will continue to support the Emir of Kuwait in his mediation efforts.”
