DOHA: Public transport company Mowasalat said yesterday that it has made arrangements to meet an expected rush for taxis and buses during the Eid holidays.
The company is also introducing bus services in three new routes connecting the airport; for all services passengers can use classic Karwa smartcard or 24X7 day card.
New route 777 started since July 8 to express service with limited stops from CCD to airport to CCD (City center) – circular service. Customers can avail West bay free shuttle services – blue or red line from CCD.
Route 747 will be rerouted from July 21 onwards to increase the coverage after introduction of route 777 which was overlapping with existing route 747 for some part of the journey. The new route will cover F ring road, Old airport road and Al Najma (highway only).
As part of preparations for Eid, the company has secured state-of-the-art vehicles, carried out maintenance for all its vehicles operating on the road and coordinated with the taxi franchisees to supply adequate numbers of vehicles at the places of the highest demand. Mowasalat’s operations room is working to identify taxi routes in districts with the highest densities and the highest demand on Karwa vehicles and mass transit. It will also assign drivers to non-stop shifts, to meet the needs of shoppers and tourists.
Mowasalat has also developed a plan to increase the taxis and limousines at their parking areas outside the arrivals terminals of Hamad International Airport .
