Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Press Center strongly condemns the circulation of misleading media reports and allegations that lack the most basic standards of accuracy and objectivity and target the State of Qatar in an apparent attempt to cast doubt on its consistent positions and pivotal role in supporting regional and international security and stability.
The Center affirmed that these allegations are merely the latest in a series of biased media campaigns aimed at distorting facts and undermining Qatar’s sincere efforts to promote dialogue and strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding among peoples and nations.
The Center commended the professional efforts made by the International Media Office in refuting the allegations published by The Washington Post on June 12 and presenting facts and documentation that leave no room for doubt that QatarEnergy enjoys a well-established global reputation and a strong record of transparency and professional commitment, independent of political considerations.
The Center noted that established media institutions bear an even greater responsibility to adhere to the highest professional standards when covering sensitive international issues, which requires careful verification and scrutiny of information before publication.
The Qatar Press Center stressed that credibility remains the cornerstone of journalism and that commitment to facts and respect for readers’ intelligence are the true measures of a media institution’s professionalism and standing. The Center called for confronting all forms of media misinformation that seek to distort facts and undermine confidence in the responsible positions and constructive efforts undertaken by the State of Qatar at both the regional and international levels.
