Roxas City – The administration standard bearer has yet to be formally announced, but governors and other local officials here in Western Visayas have already started mobilizing their forces to ensure one solid Visayas vote for Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas in 2016.
This early, Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco has assured that the entire Panay Island composed of the provinces of Aklan, Capiz, Antique, and Iloilo will support Roxas in the 2016 presidential elections.
“All of us governors here in Region 6 are endorsing Mar Roxas 101 percent. Tanco told the Manila Bulletin in an interview here after the distribution of funds for the Recovery Assistance on “Yolanda” to local officials.
“I’m sure that the vote-rich Negros Island (Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental) will also go for Secretary Mar,” he added.
Tanco disclosed that governors in Western Visayas have already been discussing about the support system for Roxas, a native of Capiz, since talks of presidential elections begin to heat up in the past few weeks.
During the discussion, he said all of them have decided not only to support Roxas but also to rally behind support from all local officials in Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas regions.
He, however, would not say if negotiations with governors and other local officials in the two other Visayas regions have already started.
